Remembrance Day

Today we have joined the rest of the country in remembering those who have fallen in war, observing two minutes of silence during our Armistice Day Service. It was a moving event.

Remembrance Day falls every year on the 11th of November, the date on which the Armistice was signed in 1918 to signify the end of World War One. The Great War, as it became known, devastated Europe, and claimed lives on a scale including those of Calday students, unlike any conflict that had been fought before.

We were joined by the Deputy Mayor of Wirral, Councillor Green for the unveiling of a plaque presented by the Battle of Britiain Historical Society to former pupil, Flight Lieutenant Raymond Towers Holmes. He was part of the RAF 504 Squadron - Hurricanes and participated in the Battle of Britain 1940, which helped prevent an invasion of this country and subjugation of its people.

Thank you to everyone who joined us today.

Have your say
