About

I am an internationally known scientist at the University of Copenhagen, Denmark with expertise in ecology, computer simulation modelling, climate change and food security. From 2011 to 2014 I led the writing of the critically important chapter for the IPCC 5th Assessment Report on food security; scientists from the IPCC shared the Nobel Peace Prize in 2007. I have received six international prizes for research and teaching and in 2016 I was knighted by the Government of France for my services to science. I am a Chevalier Français. I am a founder member of the Advanced Research Institute at the University of Montpellier and science consultant on the One Planet Fellowship Programme.

I had an excellent education at Calday that has served me well during my career, which has crossed disciplines from science to humanities - this has been a highlight of my career which has made it more of a hobby than a job.  I learned to write, speak French, love history and I enjoyed the balance at Calday with high level academic learning and also sports.
